Run Forrest Run!

On a personal note I have started running. Let me explain something first. I am not a runner and never have been. But I am trying to become one. I am running with a group of women called the Cougers. We run from Coogee beach on various routes around the area. We run on Thursdays at the crazy time of 5.45am. I initially thought that this was just insane but it really is the best time to run. Last week as the sun was coming up there were dolphins frolicking in the ocean.. amazing. The first week I walked the distance and this morning (week 5) I ran the whole way for the first time. It worked out to 5.3kms. I am so proud of myself and my running buddies Jane and Lisa.

Are you a runner? How did you become a runner?

Loopylu online store coming

Loopylu children's wear is an online store selling Australian designed clothes...by me!!!
I have three children and I feel that there are lots of lovely clothes out there but not all are affordable. The affordable brands are very generic and everyone is wearing them. Those that are a little different are very expensive.
I went to a store (popular brand) to buy my 8yr old boy something new. He doesn't need a lot of clothes because he goes to school and plays weekend sport. So he wears his school uniform, soccer, football and basketball uniforms most times during the week. In saying that he does need clothes that he can wear to the odd party, dinner outing or trip to the shops. Something that makes a statement about him but doesn't cost me a fortune.
So we hit out local Westflield's to find a pair of casual shoes ($120), a pair of cargos ($89) and a long sleeve casual top ($79). Now is it just me or is that a lot of money for one outfit for an 8yr old. I will say though that his choice was great and he looks great and loves wearing his new clothes as he feels like he owns it and I love the fact that what he chose is a direct expression of him.

So in comes my idea and online store. Don't get too excited as it probably won't be ready for any purchases until November but I will show my stuff along the way as things get designed.

Here is a sneak preview of a couple my designs.

Name the Bird

I am green, friendly and in need of a name. Can you help me?

What is she doing now?

Ok so we are still a couple of months away from launching my new business but I thought it would be nice to share some of my journey with you.
Starting a business isn't new to me as I already run a successful design agency in Surry Hills in Sydney. Fresco Creative, (you can see our work here www.frescocreative.com.au ) has been going for 13 big years and is still going strong and keeping me on my toes. Like any business there are good and bad times but Fresco, I must say seems to be a lot more good than bad. It works in perfectly with my life as a mother of three little monkey's. Jack, Olivia and Angus.
So... I hear you ask why is she starting something new????
I love a challenge
I am an Aries
I love being creative
I love being busy
I love designing
I love colour
I love childrens fashion

So follow my journey, you may learn a thing or two or even better offer me some great ideas as well.

my little niece

Roxy Jean Formosa

Isn't she adorable. I am very biased of course. This is my brothers first child and my children's first cousin on my side. Jacks comments were "she is too small to play" and "are we done?" and Liv just wanted to hug and kiss her and do her hair.

Welcome little Roxy.

it's been a while

So every Sunday morning we wake up early and get organised to take Jack to Nippers. Now I do love doing it and Jack does as well but I get the feeling the SM loves it the most. He was most upset yesterday when he was one of the only dad's sitting on the sideline watching. He wasn't able to help because he missed the parents training session. He was in Melb. loosing our money at Derby Day.

I love this shot of Jack in action. He does enjoy it. It is a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. I usually walk to the beach with Liv and meet the boys down there.

It is a great way to meet more people in our community and reconnect with people I haven't seen for a while. I have one pic but it tiny and looks silly. I will try to get a larger one and post it soon.

update on the pool and weekend fun

We are getting there. Can't wait until complete as the weekends are tough when the kids can't go outside for a play. We have to keep them busy by leaving the house as they very quickly get cabin fever.

So the concrete is being poured on Tuesday which is exciting. I think they said that the concrete needs takes three weeks to set and then they can start the tiling.

This weekend was great. We went to nippers, Picked up a new car for Stu, made patizzi and ravioli (never made pasta before) and then topped it off with a street party in Bondi with friends celebrating Williams 3rd birthday.

The kids are bathed and the last one is about to go to bed. So all good. Loads of fun!!!

my first quilt

I started this little beauty back in May I think and the final stitches went in today. I love it and I am please so say that the owner of this gorgeous quilt seems to love it just as much as me. Olivia can't wait to sleep with it tonight.

I wanted to make Olivia a quilt that wasn't pink yet still girlie enough. I love red and turquoise which is what this quilt predominantly is. I think it works really well and won't look out of place in a little girls bedroom.

What do you think?

they are still digging

This is day three and the boys are still digging. They have had some bad luck, machines breaking down, rain, wind and concrete footings to dig through. I think they are doing well considering.

My yard looks like a bomb has hit it... I can't believe that it will look normal again but I do remember thinking that when we renovated the inside and it is perfect.

The only good thing about this weather we are having in sydney is that i wouldn't want the kids outside playing anyway so the fact that our yard is completely out of action hasn't really affected us.

let the demolition begin

The digging of the pool has started. I thought it was going to be a disaster with all of the rain we had over the weekend...but they were out the front at 7.30am ready to go.

Jack couldn't believe that a bulldozer was going to be in our back yard. A 5 yr old boys dream come true.
